Trunk or Treat 2019

Event Details

We are hosting the 3rd Annual Trunk-or-Treat on October 21st from 2:00 pm-5 pm and we really need your support. We are in need of a minimum of 5 Knights that can assist with coordination of event set up, traffic flow of the parking lot and judging of our costume contest. Additionally, we need individuals that would be interested in bringing their vehicles and participating in handing out candy to the youth of our parish. We hope that we can fill the church parking lot with parishioner’s vehicles so the youth have a great trunk-or-treat experience.

New this year, we will have awards for the best decorated vehicles. There will be trophies given for the scariest, funniest and best overall decorated cars. We thought it would be a nice touch to have members of the St. John XXIII Youth Group judge these vehicles since they are helping us with the event.

The Youth Group will be hosting games in the social hall and helping with refreshments for the participants and their families.

If you weren’t part of the Knights last year or couldn’t attend and were wondering what a Trunk-or-Treat event is, let me give you some details.

Trunk-or-Treat is an opportunity to provide a safe “trick-or-treat” experience to our parish’s youth while providing fellowship within our parish community. The experience will begin at 2:00 PM as our youth from 4 different age groups (3 and under, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12) flow through the parking lot trunk-or-treating from vehicle to vehicle. Cars will be parked with their trunk or lift gate facing the children’s walking path so car owners can sit and pass out candy to the youth. Vehicles can be decorated in a Halloween theme,if desired. There are so many great ideas out there. I have attached a link from Oriental Trading company who has some great ideas as well.

Once the children finish trunk-or-treating (around 3:30pm), the youth will be invited to come to the social hall for refreshments, which the Youth Group will help serve. There will also be games available which will also be provided by the Youth Group. Once all the youth are in the social hall, the event will conclude with a costume contest. Each age group will have 1 winner for 3 different categories (scariest, funniest and most original).

We have marketing for this event set up in the gathering space along with sign up sheets for those that can assist with registering their vehicle for the event.

If you can assist with any of the roles needed, please contact Mike Sassman as soon as possible. Eric can be reached at

We thank you in advance for your assistance and your support.
